Peace Activist/Author Brings Anti-Islamophobia Tour to Vancouver

Founder of SalaamUSA, Steve Slocum, to speak on Islamophobia in the U.S. and Canada

WHO/WHAT:

Peace activist and author, Steve Slocum , brings his North American media tour to Vancouver this month with two upcoming events. He will sign his new book, Why Do They Hate Us? Making Peace with the Muslim World (Top Reads July 2019) and discuss Islamophobia as the gateway to racism and hate crimes. Slocum is on a mission to dismantle the fear-mongering of Islamophobia and shed light on Islam’s peaceful mainstream. He  is traveling up the Pacific Coast to Canada, speaking and sharing his message of peace and denouncing Islamophobia as a political weapon.

    into Canada. Susan Lepin, Founder of VancouverCares , and Siddika Jessa , Board Member
    of SalaamUSA.org , join forces with Steve to celebrate cross-cultural friendships and promoting
    interfaith understanding.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Steve Slocum, author and peace activist wants people to understand their Muslim neighbors. The founder of SalaamUSA.org, Slocum recently released his debut book, Why Do They Hate Us? Making Peace with the Muslim World to counter rampant Islamophobic political rhetoric and give a voice to Islam’s peaceful mainstream. In 2018, he founded SalaamUSA.org, a nonpartisan, nonreligious organization, whose mission and meaning is ‘peace’, to create mutual understanding between Muslims, Christians, Jews and the non-religious. Through SalaamUSA and his new book, Slocum hopes to fight the fear, prejudice, and violence surrounding Islamophobia. He is an ambassador for the Parliament of World Religions and a presenter at the 2018 Parliament in Toronto. He is a frequent keynote speaker and media expert.

SalaamUSA.org is a non-profit organization that focuses on creating mutual understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims. Salaam uses events, community outreach, and media to raise awareness of Islam from an unbiased, non-religious, nonpartisan perspective.
