Author & Tucsonan to speak at St. Francis in the Foothills

Steve Slocum, is the author of highly acclaimed, “Why Do They Hate Us? Making Peace with the Muslim World.” Slocum’s book was named a Top Book for 2019 by both Booklist and Kirkus. Slocum, a former missionary to Kazakhstan, will lead an interactive discussion about his book that will include topics such as the storied history of Islam, the common misconceptions around topics such as sharia law, jihad, and the role of women in Islam, and connecting the dots between cause and effect for the rise in “Islamic” terrorism, weaving in how this is affecting current events in our world. Finally, Slocum will discuss practical ways to overcome societal fears by face-to-face interaction with our Muslim neighbors.
